SECRETARIA DE MARINA DEPLOYS OVER 1,700 NAVAL ELEMENTS TO PERMANENTLY REINFORCE SECURITY IN MAZATLAN

In a comprehensive effort to reinforce public safety, the Secretaría de Marina has officially launched a permanent security strategy in the coastal city of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, deploying more than 1,700 specialized naval personnel across key urban and rural sectors.

Operating under the Fourth Naval Region—which encompasses Nayarit, Baja California, and Sinaloa—this major tactical operation features roughly 30 percent female personnel. Officials confirmed that this initiative operates separately from standard seasonal vacation patrols, acting instead as a long-term strategy designed to enhance operational capabilities and drive local sustainable development.

The strategic framework incorporates advanced enterprise software systems and data analytics to optimize resource allocation, land patrols, and operational intelligence. The modern fleet assigned to the area includes key operational assets:

• 65 specialized patrol vehicles and tactical motorcycles
• 25 unmanned aerial systems (drones) for real-time monitoring
• 3 air transports stationed for immediate tactical response
• Watercraft, jet skis, and specialized search and rescue units
• The multipurpose vessel Zapoteco, assisting coastal surveillance and logistics

Rather than concentrating solely on known high-risk zones, naval personnel are broadening their presence into diverse neighborhoods, downtown districts, and main thoroughfares to maintain effective risk mitigation and robust corporate security protocols. Ground units will conduct foot patrols to enhance community relations, while specialized maritime units continue safeguarding the coast.

"We are expanding our institutional footprint to encompass sectors that previously lacked regular naval patrols. Our core goal is proactive protection and maintaining structural stability for all citizens," declared an operational naval representative.

To facilitate emergency reporting and community feedback, authorities encourage the public to utilize national emergency channels, including 911 and 800 MARINA 1. The Fourth Naval Region will also introduce a direct contact line to streamline official reports, ensuring strong operational continuity, sound asset management, and regional safety.
