A joint security operation conducted by the Secretaría de Marina and the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana resulted in the arrest of nine individuals allegedly linked to a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. The operation took place in the rugged mountain territory spanning the borders of the municipalities in Sinaloa and Durango, Mexico.
According to official reports from federal authorities, the confrontation began when security personnel were conducting routine patrol and intelligence tasks in a high-priority sector monitored by the Gabinete de Seguridad Nacional. During the deployment, individuals traveling in six utility vehicles launched an armed attack against the federal units.
